Mr. Warren Leonard Alexander, 87, of Creswell died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Cherry Church of God, Creswell with the Rev. Mitchell Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Saint David’s Cemetery.
Mr. Alexander was born in Tyrrell County, the son of the late Warren and Louie Morris Alexander Sr. He was married to Norma Flynn Alexander of Edenton, who survives. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Cherry Church of God.
Survivors include five daughters, Daisy Armstrong of Roper, Linda Spear and Beckie Spear, both of Creswell, Tena Jones of Hertford and Teressa Hayes of Edenton; four sons, Warren Alexander of Elizabeth City, Floyd Alexander and Leroy Alexander, both of Edenton, and Joe Alexander of Springdale, Ark.; one sister, Ruth Copeland of Suffolk, Va.; 28 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; eight stepgrandchildren and 18 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jackie L. Alexander; one daughter, Norma F. Davenport and one grandson, Jamie Modlin.
The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
