Mr. Ellis Mayhue Berry Sr., 94, of Fairfield died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Britthaven of Edenton.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, with Jimmy Davenport and Sonny Furrow officiating. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Berry was born in Tyrrell County, and was the son of the late Thomas and Addie Midgett Berry. He was married to Rena Bell Gibbs Berry, who preceded him in death. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Scuppernong Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Exy B. Wood of Hertford; two sons, Ellis M. Berry Jr. and Chester M. Berry, both of Creswell; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Shelton Berry, Greg Dodge and Janet Paul; four sisters, Lillie Brickhouse, Lydia Cartwright, Carrie Cartwright and Vicie Hudson; and five brothers, Thomas Berry, Stephen Berry, Nathan Berry, George Berry and Carol Berry.
The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
