Mrs. Martha Jenkins Jones of 5835 RiverCreek Drive, Washington, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mt. Hebron Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Elder Jerome Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Jones was born Oct. 16, 1949, the daughter of the late Francis and Alice O’Pharrow Jenkins. She graduated from P.S. Jones High School and attended Kittrell College. She was married to Arthur “AD” Jones, who survives. She had worked at Samson Shirt Factory, Winn-Dixie and Wal-Mart of Washington. She joined Spring Garden Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined Mt. Hebron Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), where she served on the usher board.
Survivors include four children, Martha Victoria Jones of Washington, Charles V. Williams Jr. of Fayetteville, Marvena Williams of Rocky Mount and La Alice Hopkins of Spring Hope; seven children in kind, Linda Jones, Denise Waters, Arthur Jones Jr. and Samuel Jones, all of Washington, Carolyn White and Regina Hooker, both of Chocowinity, and Wilhelmina Jones of Grimesland; two sisters, LaVerne Jenkins and Juanita Jenkins, both of Washington; three brothers, Melvin O’Pharrow of Washington, Leroy Jenkins of Washington, D.C., and Francis Jenkins Jr. of Fort Washington, Md.; and 20 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6-7 p.m. at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington.
