Mrs. Mamie Murry, 86, of 19179 N.C. Highway 33 East, Edward, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Victor Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Murry Cemetery.
Mrs. Murry was born in Pitt County on May 17, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Mattie Cherry Minor. She was married to Burnice Murry, who preceded her in death Dec. 11, 2006. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as Mother deaconess.
Survivors include one son, James A. Battle of Falls Church, Va.; one daughter, JoAnn M. Clark of Elmhurst, Ill.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rosa Bridges of Greenville.
The family will receive friends today from 5-7 p.m. at Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.
