Mrs. Mamie Lou Boyd Baker, age 76, a resident of 130 Edgewood Drive, Chocowinity, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at her home.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Pastor Travis Boyd.
Mrs. Baker was born in Beaufort County on May 29, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Zeb Boyd and Mattie Ardell Hodges Boyd. Mrs. Baker was a retired manager/buyer with Belk’s Department Store. She was a member of the Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church and attended Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Baker loved to travel, collect antiques and make crafts.
Survivors include her son, Brian Keith Johnson and his wife, Lisa Jewell Johnson of Blounts Creek; her grandson, Brian Tyler Johnson and his wife, Emily of Washington; her granddaughter, Fallon Roxanne Johnson of Greenville and her brother, David Taylor Boyd of Chocowinity.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl J. Boyd, Milton H. Boyd, Dodge O. Boyd, and James Carnell Boyd.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home, 130 Edgewood Drive, Chocowinity.
