Mr. Robert “Billie” Louis Stevenson, 69, of 905 Willie Hodge Road, Mullins, S.C., and formerly of Washington, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Hospice Health Center, Florence, S.C.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, Mullins, S.C., with the Rev. James McAllister officiating.
Mr. Stevenson was born in Pitt County on Sept. 19, 1939. He was the son of the late Velma House Stevenson and Robert Thurston Stevenson. On March 13, 1971, he married Fannie Belle Reaves, who survives. He was educated in the Pitt County and Beaufort County schools. He retired from the Marion County Medical Center in Marion, S.C. He also owned a small business in his community. During his early years, he was a member of Davis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Washington.
Survivors include one stepson, James McGaney of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Grover Stevenson and Oliver Stevenson, both of Raleigh; four sisters, Daisy Stevenson Brewer of Philadelphia, Pa., and Theresa Stevenson Ward, Shirley Stevenson Turner and Eltha Stevenson Booth, all of Washington; and three grandchildren.
