Ms. Emma J. “Honey” Whitney, 59, of 440 Watkins St., Brooklyn, N.Y., and formerly of Beaufort County, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Queens Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Terra Ceia community, Pantego with Elder Dwight Spruill officiating. Burial will follow in Broad Creek Cemetery, Pantego.
Ms. Whitney was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 29, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Elnora Credle Whitney and Al Smith Whitney. She attended the Beaufort County Schools. She was employed as a child care specialist. She was a member of Queens Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Terra Ceia community, Pantego.
Survivors include one daughter, Tyminia Whitney of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters, Barbara Slade, Joyce Whitney and Wanda Harrison, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and four brothers, Alfonza Whitney of Washington, Michael Whitney of Chocowinity, Steven Whitney of Lakeland, Fla., and Rufus Whitney of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The family will receive friends at the Pilley Avenue, Terra Ceia community, Pantego residence.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
