Pam Pack swimmer Pfeiffer earns two medals

CHAPEL HILL — Washington Pam Pack star Anna Pfeiffer capped off her high school swimming career in style. The senior captured a pair of medals in Saturday’s N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3A state meet, held at Maurice J. Koury Natatorium on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill.
Pfeiffer placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.85, and third in the 100-yard freestyle with a clocking of 54.25 seconds.
Pfeiffer earned a pair of fourth-place individual finishes last year, taking fourth in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Her strong effort helped Washington finish sixth in the team standings with 98.5 points.
Washington’s boys finished in 30th with 15 points.
Riziki Omonde added a top-10 finish for the Pam Pack, as the freshman finished eighth (59.97 seconds) in the 100-yard freestyle.
Pfeiffer and Omonde were also part of the sixth-place 200-yard medley relay team. Shannon Niederhauser and Shelby Smithwick combined with Pfeiffer and Omonde to finish in 2:00.61.
The same foursome took sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:47.56).
Omonde tied for 14th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.82.
Shannon Niederhauser was 21st (27.95) in the 50-yard freestyle prelims.
Brandon Niederhauser captured 12th place in the 100-yard freestyle for the Pam Pack. He finished in 51.88 seconds.
Niederhauser also took 17th (23.31) in the 50-yard freestyle prelims.
Will Davis was 22nd in the 100-yard breaststroke prelims (1:11.23) and 23rd (2:08.48) in the 200-yard freestyle prelims.
The Pack’s 200-yard medley relay foursome of Charles Pfeiffer, Davis, Brandon Niederhauser and Luke Stroud finished 14th in 1:52.02.
Washington’s 200-yard freestyle relay quartet of Joey Davenport, Adam Mason, Brandon Niederhauser and Luke Stroud placed 15th (1:38.36).
The 400-yard freestyle relay Pack foursome of Charles Pfeiffer, York Winstead, Colin Daw and Stroud took 23rd (3:52.98) in the prelims.
