Mr. James T. Hopkins Sr., 74, of Roper, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in the Temple of Jesus Christ Church, Washington, with Bishop Jerry Midgette officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hopkins was born June 15, 1934. He was the son of the late M.D. and Manda May Hopkins. He attended Beaufort County Schools. He was married to Mary Gray Hopkins, who preceded him in death. He owned and operated a septic tank installation business.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Simmons and Jennette Smith, both of Washington, and Mary Hopkins of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sons, James T. Hopkins of Charlotte and Rocky Hopkins of Roper; one sister, Amanda Hopkins Godley of Chocowinity; one brother, Jesse James Hopkins of Washington; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris Pope.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Barbara Simmons, 214 Marva Drive, Rivercreek community, Washington.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
