Mrs. Leta Mae Boyd, age 84, of 13459 Highway 264 East, Pinetown, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2009 at the 15th Street Church of God with Pastor Thomas Lee and Dennis Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Stan Gurganus, Joey Gurganus, Michael Boyd, Derick Boyd, Jeremy Wells and Jason Wells will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington and other times at the home.
Mrs. Boyd was born June 17, 1924 in Beaufort County. She was the daughter of the late Walter Jasper Haddock and Annie Tuten Haddock. She was a graduate of Bath High School. Mrs. Boyd was a homemaker and was married to Charlie Zachary Boyd, who preceded her in death on January 14, 1999. She was a member of the 15th Street Church of God.
Survivors include one son, Charles Boyd and wife Charlene of Washington; one daughter, Sylvia Gurganus and husband Stanley of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Shirley Jones and husband Jesse of Washington; five grandchildren, Stan Gurganus, Steven Gurganus, Michael Boyd, Carrie Byrd, and Derick Boyd; nine great-grandchildren; and her special caregiver, Evelyn Blount of Pantego.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Belva Simmons.
