Mrs. Jessie Mildred Jackson Cherry, age 99, a former resident of Mill Road, Old Ford Community, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Monday, March 23, 2009 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Eddie Bowen and Dr. Frank Sheldon. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Her grandsons: Stephen Clark, Stan Clark, Joey Clark, William Cherry, Michael Greene and Lloyd Warner will serve as pallbearers. Russell Cherry will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Cherry was born in Beaufort County on June 18, 1909. She was the daughter of the late Henry Jackson and Nona Elizabeth Jackson. Mrs. Cherry was a homemaker. She was a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ and Circle #3.
In 1930, she married Amacey Cornelius Cherry, who preceded her in death, September 9, 1974.
Survivors include one son: Seth Cherry and wife, Alice of Washington; four daughters: Hazel Clark of Washington, Mildred Jackson and her husband, Danny of New Bern, Ann Greene of Jackson, Ohio, Faye Warner and her husband, Jimmie of Washington; ten grandchildren: Beverly Allamon, William Cherry, Russell Cherry, Steve Clark, Stan Clark, Joey Clark, Melody Brown, Michael Greene, Lloyd Warner, Yvette Randolph; 19 great grandchildren: Karen Waters, Brett Cherry, Sara Cherry, Amanda Cherry, April Cherry, Nash Clark, Conner Clark, Dusty Clark, Chance Clark, Owen Greene, Brennen Greene, Jenson Greene, Cody Warner, Summer Warner, Macon Randolph, John-Morgan Randolph, Payton Randolph, Tommy Brown, Christopher Brown; and four great great grandchildren: Jalynne Ramsey, Christian Waters, Khloe Oxendine and Brantley Brown.
In addition to her parents and her husband. Mrs. Cherry was preceded in death by five brothers: Bill Jackson, H.A. Jackson, Garland Jackson, Julius Jackson, and Elmer Jackson and two sisters, Maggie Cherry and Lillie Mae Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm Monday prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Faye Warner, 5494 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington.
