Mr. Myron “Jerome” Barr, age 62, a resident of 201 Barr Lane, Chocowinity died Thursday April 2, 2009 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday April 5, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Rev. Ola Forbes, Jr. and Pastor Dennis Barber.
Mr. Jerome was born in Beaufort County on June 12, 1946 son of the late Myron Odell Barr and Kathleen Hill Barr who survives. He attended Chocowinity High School and married the former Carol Godley on March 5, 1965 who survives. He was owner/operator of Carolina Feed and Tack, B &B Stables and South Side Arena. Mr. Jerome was V.P. of the NC Bear Hunters Association, President of the Wildlife Heritage Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Southern Dismal Hunting Club. He was an avid bear hunter who served as a hunting guide with Children’s Make A Wish Foundation and the general public. Mr. Jerome also organized trail rides fund raisers for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Surviving along with Mr. Jerome’s wife Carol of the home and mother Kathleen Barr of Chocowinity is a son: Charles Bradley “Brad” Barr of Pamlico County; two daughters: Crystal B. Campbell and Angie Morrine Barr both of Chocowinity; a step-daughter: Amy Gray Moore of Chocowinity; a step-son: Jessie Koonce of Washington; a sister: Diane B. Hamrick of Chocowinity and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today April 4, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorials be made to Chocowinity Rescue EMS, P.O. Box 574, Chocowinity, NC 27817 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
