Alta Rae Taylor Glosson, 76, of Yorktown, Va., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2009, after a lengthy illness. She married Roy M. Glosson on January 17, 1953.
Growing up on a farm in Washington, N.C. with eleven brothers and sisters, Rae never imagined that God would grant her desire to become a teacher (for 37 years) or let her earn a Master’s degree in California; send her to over 30 nations (including Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, Japan, Thailand, Switzerland, Germany, and Belgium) or even allow her to smuggle the forbidden Word of God into China; but He did.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy M. Glosson; one brother, Glenn E. Taylor of Washington, N.C.; one sister, Geraldine T. Leonard of Newport News, Va.; four sisters-in-law and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 5 at World Outreach Worship Center (1233 Shields Rd., Newport News, Va. 23608). A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 6 at World Outreach Worship Center with Pastor Bobby Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Va.
Flowers are welcome. Memorial contributions may be made to the World Outreach Worship Benevolent Fund.
Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
