Mrs. Magdalene Boyd Respess Sizer, age 86, a resident of 5450 Old 97 Road, Pantego, NC died Monday June 29, 2009 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday July 1, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Arnold Pressey and Billy Ray Askew. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Murphy Todd Respess, Christopher Hulbert Respess, George Brinkley Bowen, II, Stacey Respess Bowen, Derick Grey Tetterton, Joseph Rowland Smith, Jr. and Ashley Keith Woolard will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Sizer was born in Beaufort County on January 8, 1923 daughter of the late John Thomas Boyd and the late Martha Harris Boyd. She was a 1942 graduate of Pantego High School. Mrs. Sizer married Murphy Leon Respess on May 29, 1942 who preceded her in death on September 16, 1971. She later married Robert Edwards Sizer on March 29, 1976 who preceded her in death on November 17, 1990. Mrs. Sizer was a homemaker and a member of Terra Ceia Church of Christ.
Mrs. Sizer is survived by her three children: Murphy Boyd Respess and his wife Sue, Loretta Respess Bowen and her husband George and Gary Leon Respess and his wife Elaine all of Pantego; eight grandchildren: Murphy Todd Respess of Pantego, Sherri Respess Smith and her husband Joey of Pantego, Christopher Hulbert Respess and his wife Suzanne of Washington, George Brinkley Bowen, II and his wife Linda of Belhaven, Stacey Respess Bowen and his wife Kris of Belhaven, Wendy Respess Woolard and her husband Ashley of Washington, Hope Respess Tetterton and her husband Derick of Pantego and Erin Elizabeth Respess of Washington; sixteen great grandchildren; three sisters: Charlotte Boyd Myers of Washington, Frances Boyd Brooks of Pantego and Joyce Boyd Godley of Washington; three brothers: Roy Boyd of Greenville, Clinton Boyd of Washington and Wade Boyd of Pinetown. Mrs. Sizer was preceded in death by four sisters: Pearl Boyd Whitley, Palestine Boyd Ange, Ravonda Boyd Sommers, Phyllis Boyd Alligood and three brothers: Ferrel Boyd, Hallas Boyd, Sr. and Dallas Boyd.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday June 30, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
