Williamston, NC — Leslie Beddard, Jr., 74, of 208 Marshall Ave. died Saturday, July 04, 2009 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Leslie was born in Beaufort County on July 15, 1934 to the late Leslie and Laura Beacham Beddard and was predeceased by a brother, Henry Beddard. Leslie was married to Barbara Civils on April 13, 1956, until her death on April 14, 2002. Mr. Beddard was retired from Weyerhaeuser in the Fine Paper Shipping Department. He enjoyed the Washington High School Monthly Class Reunion at Hog Heaven. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Pamlico Beach.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include; daughters, Laurie Pruitt and husband George of Oxford, Angie Roberson and husband Gary of Raleigh and Lesley Mebane of Williamston; sisters, Essie Black of Greenville, Betty Lou Lewis of Greensboro, Laura Ann Narron of Washington and Dorothy Everrett of Belvoir; brothers, Garland Beddard of Greensboro and Bobby Beddard of Washington; grandchildren, Rebecca Barbour, Sara Roberson, Emily Pruitt, Allen Pruitt, Andrew Pruitt, Joshua Mebane and Jacob Mebane. For the past several years, Leslie shared a special relationship with his sweetheart, Shelby Modlin.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Walker Funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. and at other times from the home.
