James B. Moore Sr.

Mr. James Battle Charity Moore, Sr., age 80, a resident of 683 Casey Drive, Grifton, NC died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Rev. Robert Ellis. Adrian Moore, Brandon Moore, Mitchell Moore, Ken Hardison, Alvin Davenport, Jr. and Jim Benson will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born in Johnston County, North Carolina on November 27, 1928 son of the late James Eldridge and Edna Carpenter Moore. He was married for 59 years to the former Effie Mae Davenport, who survives. He worked with Overnite Transportation for 32 years retiring in 1986. Mr. Moore was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grifton.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Moore is survived by two sons, Randy Moore and wife Elaine of Newman, GA and James Jimbo Moore Jr. of Grifton, one brother, Jimmy Moore of Garner and one sister, Rudine Arp of Nash County, four grandchildren, Adrian Moore, Teir Bristol, Brandon Moore and Mitchell Moore and one great grandchild, Liam Bristol.
In addition to his parents and several brothers and sisters, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Moore.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
