Miss Nellie Kathleen Snell, age 93, a former resident of East 2nd Street and Village Apartments, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Britthaven of Washington.
Graveside services will be held 12 Noon Friday, August 7, 2009 at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by S. Ray West.
Onnie Boyd, Cedric Woolard, and Carl Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers.
“Miss Nellie” was born in Beaufort County on August 20, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Carl Mayo Snell and Juanita Gurganus Snell. “Miss Nellie” worked as a sales lady at McClellans for 35 years. She was the last living charter member of the First Church of Christ in Washington and was a member of the Ladies Circles.
“Miss Nellie” is survived by three nieces, two nephews, several cousins and special friend, Shirley Mayo Wiggs of Bath.
In addition to her parents, “Miss Nellie” was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Snell and Junius Snell and one sister, Mary Emma Snell.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home in Washington.
