Bettie Lee Dixon Cahoon, age 94, a resident of 211 Tuscarora, Bayview Community, Bath, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at University Health System Inpatient Hospice, Greenville.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2009 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Curtis White officiating. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Rodney Bowen, John Holt, Jerry Narron, Harold Ormond, Jr., Jimmy Raper and Glenn Roper will serve as pallbearers. Vanetta Lang, Nelda Ormond, Judy Paul and Becky Woolard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC and other times at the home of her daughter at 2542 Cherry Road, Washington.
Mrs. Cahoon was born October 27, 1914 in Pitt County to the late Marshall and Victoria Dixon. She was married to Jack Cahoon of Bayview who preceded her in death in July 1989. Bettie was a member of Bath Christian Church and Circle #2. She was retired from Hamilton Beach.
Surviving is a daughter, Lou Ann Whitaker and husband Phillip of Washington; two grandchildren, Troy Whitaker and wife Gay of Chocowinity and Kimberly Chrismon and husband Tony of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Shaelee and Trevor Chrismon; three step great-grandchildren, Miranda Williams, Misty McRoy and Kevin McRoy; a brother, Herbert Dixon of Hampton, VA and several nieces and nephews.
