Mrs. Barbara Jean Woolard Worsley, age 60, a resident of 2866 Gilead Shores Road, Blounts Creek died Sunday October 18, 2009 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday October 21, 2009 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by Rev. Melvin Haas. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Justin Elks, Derek Elks, Nicholas Woolard, John Toler, Thomas Bland and Jimmy Griekspoor will serve as pallbearers. James Mitchell and Jody Bright will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Worsley was born in Beaufort County on March 30, 1949, daughter of the late Julius “Pete” Woolard and her mother, Gilda Lewis Woolard who survives. On July 3, 1988, she married Cecil Clayton Worsley who survives. She was retired from Cox Direct as a machine operator. Mrs. Worsley was a member of Ephesus Free Will Baptist church and the Ephesus Ladies’ Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, Cecil Clayton Worsley of the home and her mother, Gilda Woolard of Chocowinity; she is survived by her sister: Judy Mitchell of Chocowinity; her brothers: Joseph Woolard of Vanceboro, Harold Woolard of Chocowinity and Jeffery Woolard of Washington; three nephews and four nieces.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Glendon Gray Woolard and Douglas Allen Woolard.
The family received friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home of her mother: Gilda Woolard located at 8 Pine Drive, Bright’s Mobile Home Park, Chocowinity.
