Mary Louise Byram Winter

ATHENS, GA. — Mary Louise Byram Winter died on October 19, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Beverly Winter.
Mrs. Winter was born in Tallahassee, Florida, but moved to Washington, North Carolina at an early age. She attended St. Mary’s School.
Mrs. Winter and her husband lived in Atlanta and Gainesville, Georgia before moving to Athens in 1967. In 1974, Mrs. Winter organized the first volunteer service group at Lanier Gardens. Several programs she originated are still ongoing in this retirement community. 
She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Junior League of Gainesville.
She is survived by her two daughters: Stacy Winter Trotter and Margaret Winter Jameson; sons-in-law McKie M. Trotter II and Walter W. Jameson, of Atlanta, a brother, William W. Byram of Americus, Ga. And six grandchildren: Caroline Trotter, Will Trotter, Walter Jameson Jr., Will Jameson, John Jameson and Bear Jameson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pamlico-Tar River Foundation, P.O. Box 1954, Washington, North Carolina, 27889 or Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 498 Prince Avenue, Athens Georgia 30601.
A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Thursday, October 22nd at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received in the Common Room following the service.
