Frances Elizabeth Bowen “Fran” Ryan, age 46, a resident of 4205 Cherry Road, Washington passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Old Ford Church of Christ, U.S. Highway 17 North, Washington, conducted by Eddie Bowen and Levi Cichorz. Committal will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Members of the Old Ford Volunteer Fire Department will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers will be Josh Boyd, Jon Boyd, Jason Harrison, A.J. Tyson, Lewis Peaden, Robby Roberson, Toby Woolard, Anthony Burton, James Satchell and Danny Whitehurst.
Fran was born in Martin County on May 30, 1963. She was the daughter of Irvin Henry Bowen, Sr. and Ann Tice Bowen. Fran worked at National Spinning as Customer Service representative for 15 years. She was a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ and the Old Ford Volunteer Fire Department, where she served as “caretaker of the guys”. Fran worked one year as an EMT with Broad Creek EMS. She was a former Girl Scout leader and tutor at John Cotton Tayloe and John Small School.
On June 30, 1985, Fran married Timothy Sean Ryan, who survives.
Surviving with her husband Tim are her daughter, Veronica Christine Ryan of the home; her parents, Irvin Henry Bowen, Sr. and Ann Tice Bowen of Bear Grass; her sister, Pamela Bowen Evans and husband, Larry of Jamesville; five brothers, James Elbert Bowen and wife, Cheryl of Ayden, First Sergeant Henry Edwin Bowen and wife, Fran of Farm Life, Gary Tice Bowen, Terry Joe Bowen and wife, Marsha, Irvin Henry Bowen, Jr. and wife, Stacey all of Bear Grass; her father and mother in law, Lt. Col. James William Ryan, USAF-Ret. and Marjorie Ryan of Washington; two brother in laws, James William Ryan, Jr. of Washington, Master Sergeant Michael Dean Ryan, USAF-Ret. and wife, Katie Ryan of Blounts Creek; two sister in laws, Bonnie Kathleen Lee and husband, Randy of Washington, Major Patricia Sue Ryan, USAF-Ret. of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 at Old Ford Church of Christ Life Center and other times at the home, 4205 Cherry Road, Washington.
