Moore wins championship at invite|Goldberg earns second, Hill and Williamitis third

Justin “Weasel” Moore picked up Washington’s lone championship at the Charles B. Aycock wrestling invitational over the weekend.
Moore pinned North Pitt’s Chris Grimes in 2:45 to win the 171-pound championship. The senior (4-0 this season, 3-0 at tournament) tied Gabe Gardner (128-44) for second place on the all-time win list at Washington with his three victories Saturday.
Moore (128-7), who also won by pin and decision during the tournament, now trails only Gerald Lawrence (139-13) on the all-time win list.
Michael Goldberg (4-1 overall, 3-1 tournament) finished runner-up at 160 pounds after falling 6-4 to North Pitt’s Xavier Najar in the championship match. Goldberg won two matches by decision and another by technical fall to reach the championship.
Marquin Hill (4-1 overall, 3-1 tournament) took third place at 285 pounds, pinning Eastern Wayne’s Zachary Myers in the consolation match.
Matthew Williamitis (4-1 overall, 3-1) captured third at 135 pounds, winning twice by decision and losing once by decision.
Also competing for Washington were David Giordano (112 pounds, 0-3 overall, 0-2 tournament), Daniel Garcia (119, 3-2 overall, 2-2 tournament), Michael Gardner (130, 3-2 overall, 2-2 tournament), Brandon Price (140, 1-2 overall, 1-2 tournament), Ned Batts (145, 0-2 overall, 0-2 tournament), John Campbell (152, 1-3 overall, 1-2 tournament), Malik Moore (189, 2-2 overall, 2-2 tournament) and Jeremy Dietrich (215, 0-3 overall, 0-2 tournament).
The Pam Pack plays host to New Bern in a 6:30 p.m. match today.
