Mr. Heber Harding Woolard, age 78, a resident of 6407 Broad Creek Road, Washington, NC died Friday December 4, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM today, Sunday December 6, 2009 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Tony Krantz.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on November 22, 1931, son of the late Heber Woolard and the late Pattie Waters Woolard. He was a graduate of Bath High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Woolard attended Hardbarger College. He married the former Betty Jean Alligood on May 18, 1958 who survives. He retired from Weyerhaeuser as a supervisor in their plywood division and remained active being self-employed in the landscaping business. Mr. Woolard was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ where he had served for years as both an Elder and Deacon.
Surviving along with his wife Betty of the home are a daughter: Elizabeth Woolard Emory and her husband Neil of Dunn; two grandchildren: Hannah Emory and Taylor Emory; son in law: William Jackson of Raleigh and sister: Evelyn Baynor of Washington. Mr. Woolard was preceded in death by his daughter: Marian Woolard Jackson; two brothers: Ward M. Woolard and Whitford C. Woolard and two sisters: Lorraine Woolard and Loretta Boyd.
