Mrs. Evelyn Fornes Benton, age 84, died Tuesday morning December 22, 2009 at Britthaven of Washington.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday December 24, 2009 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Fred Wilson.
Mrs. Benton was born in Pitt County on July 15, 1925, daughter of the late Clifton Thomas Fornes and Lula Heath Fornes. She was a graduate of Pitt County Schools and former co-owner/operator of Benton Grocery in Washington. Mrs. Benton was a member of Unity Church of Christ. She married Julius Henry “Pee Wee” Benton who preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Moss.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
