Mrs. Isabelle Cherry Coltrain, age 88, a resident of Washington died Sunday January 3, 2010 at the Beaufort County Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday January 6, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Mike Caton. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Coltrain was born in Jones County on October 16, 1921 daughter of the late Major Allen Arthur and the late Penelope Simmons Arthur. She was a 1938 graduate of Pollocksville High School. Mrs. Coltrain married Charles W. Cherry who preceded her in death on November 12, 1979. She later married Willard “Pete” Coltrain on March 18, 1984 who preceded her in death on May 6, 1998. Mrs. Coltrain worked with the Beaufort County Clerk of Court before working eighteen years at Frank’s Jewelers. She was a former member of First Christian Church of Washington and a current member of Rosemary Church of Christ.
Mrs. Coltrain is survived by her daughter: Betty Cherry Cowan of Wilson; two grandchildren: Bill Cowan and his wife Amy of Charlotte and Bob Cowan and his wife Paula of Goldsboro; two great grandchildren: Zachary Cowan and Shepherd Cowan and a beloved great nephew: Mike Caton of Washington.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday January 5, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
