Janice Keech Horton, age 77, resident of Bastrop, Texas joined her Lord in Heaven on Thursday, January 28, 2010. Janice was born on January 28, 1933 in Pinetown, North Carolina to Whitford and Naomi Keech who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Ray Horton, children Lou Horton Ray of Austin, Texas, Sonny Horton and spouse Laurie of Dripping Springs, Texas, Buddy Horton and spouse Camille of Bastrop, Texas, and Kay Horton Hart and spouse Brett of Austin, Texas. Janice is also survived by one brother, Tommy Keech of Washington, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by one brother, Whitford Keech of Washington, North Carolina.
Known as Memom to her 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces, she was loved and respected which is a testament to her faith and belief that all good things come from above. Throughout her life she was active in various church ministries as she followed her husbands Marine career, finally settling in the Bastrop area, where both she and Ray were most recently involved in the Texas Baptist Mens Builders Ministry.
Services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Rosanky Baptist Church in Rosanky, Texas at 10:30 a.m., presided over by Pastor John Abraham and Reverend Joe Flahive. Interment will take place at Copeland Chapel Cemetery located in Montgomery County (Honea community) at 3:30 p.m. that same day. Graveside service presided over by Pastor Bob Lynch. Pallbearers are nephew Bo Everitt and her grandsons Steven Horton, Ben Horton, Seth Hart, Wyatt Ray and Whit Horton.
