Pam Pack swept by Falcons|Close regular season Thursday at West Carteret

WINTERVILLE — Washington saw first-hand why the South Central boys are ranked first and the Falcon girls are ranked second in the NCPreps.com Class 3-A poll.
The South Central boys cruised to a 93-49 victory in Tuesday’s Coastal Conference action. The Falcon girls ran away with a 79-29 win.
BOYS
South Central used a 7-0 run at the end of the first quarter to gain a little breathing room and a 14-8 lead heading into the second. The Falcons (20-1, 12-1) used an 8-0 spurt to start the second period, igniting a 27-9 quarter that gave them a 41-17 lead over the Pack (6-16, 1-12), which has now dropped 10 straight.
Cameron Garrison’s slam at the buzzer capped the third quarter as the Falcons pushed their lead to 68-34.
Coach Chris Cherry’s team put it in cruise control from there.
Lindsey Harris paced the Pam Pack with 13 points. Chris Albritton added 12, most of them coming in the first half. Brandon Tripp chipped in with nine points.
Donta Harper led 14 Falcons in scoring with 14 points. Montese Overton, Codi Taylor and James Carlton all had 10 in the win.
GIRLS
South Central raced out to a 9-0 lead over the Washington girls, who had entered the game winning four of their previous five. The led to a 26-6 first quarter and South Central (19-4, 12-1) never looked back.
Amber Clark and Danielle Butts, who tied for game-high scoring honors with 17 points, each had nine points at the break as South Central led 43-14. Shavonte Mills scored all eight of her points in the first two quarters.
The lead grew to 62-20 after three quarters as the Falcons utilized a speed advantage into turnovers and quick baskets against the Pack (9-12, 8-5).
Hayley Stowe led Washington with 15 points.
Washington closes the regular season Thursday at West Carteret.
