GREENVILLE — The baseball game between No. 11 East Carolina and High Point scheduled for Wednesday in High Point was postponed because of poor field conditions caused by snow in the area.
The game will be made up at a later date to be determined.
The Pirates (4-3) will be back in action this weekend when they host the Seventh Annual Keith LeClair Classic. ECU will take on Illinois at 5 p.m. Friday, West Virginia at 3 p.m. Saturday and Western Carolina at 2 p.m. Sunday.
JUMP IN POLLS
Coming off a 3-1 week where the East Carolina baseball team captured its first series win of the season against then No. 10 South Carolina, the Pirates made a jump in five of the six polls.
The Pirates were tabbed No. 11 by Rivals.com (up two spots), No. 14 by Baseball America (up eight), No. 19 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (up three), No. 20 by Ping!Baseball (up two) and No. 21 by Collegiate Baseball (up one) and USA Today/ESPN poll (down three).
Last week the USA Today/ESPN Poll did not put out a weekly ranking. The Pirates were tabbed preseason No. 18 from the publication back on Jan. 29.
This marks the 22nd consecutive week, dating back to the start of the 2009 season that the Pirates have been ranked in at least one national poll.
