Mrs. Rose Jordan Cox, age 89, a resident of 17 Wheat Patch Road, Belhaven died Tuesday March 16, 2010 at Autumnfield of Belhaven.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday March 18, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven officiated by Craig Hagen and Rev. David Pooser. Burial will follow in St. Clairs Church of Christ Cemetery of Bath.
Mrs. Cox was born in Beaufort County on June 13, 1920 daughter of the late Plum and Tiny Keech Jordan. She was a graduate of Pantego High School and married John Johnny Marshall Cox, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 3, 1992. Mrs. Cox from 1965 until 1971 was a child nutritionist assistant with the Beaufort County Schools. Later she worked as a nurses aid at Pungo District Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of St. Clairs Church of Christ.
Mrs. Cox is survived by five grandchildren: John Marshall Cox, III of Pinetown, Melanie Miller of Greensboro, Don Cox of Belhaven, Gene West of Wilmington and Heather Bryant of Greenville; and seven great grandchildren: Maria Cox, Joshua Cox, Jordan West, Hannah Miller, Brianna Cox, Hunter Bryant and Carter Bryant. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by two sons: John Marshall Cox, Jr. and Jerry Jordan Cox; a daughter: Sharon Cox West and a grandson: Jonathan West.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday March 17, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and at other times at the home of Mrs. Coxs grandson Don Cox located at 17 Wheat Patch Road, Belhaven, NC.
