Mrs. Harriet McHarney Warren, age 87, a resident of Belhaven died Monday March 22, 2010 at Autumnfield of Belhaven.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday March 25, 2010 at St. Clairs Church of Christ officiated by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in St. Clairs Church Cemetery. Freddie Warren, Forrest Warren, Kenneth Wayne Jefferson, Charles “Buddy” McHarney III, Les Burbage and Chad Warren will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Warren was born in Beaufort County on December 16, 1922 daughter of the late Charles L. McHarney and the late Lucy Paul McHarney. She was a graduate of Belhaven High School and married Ray H. Warren, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1977. Mrs. Warren was a dietitian with the Beaufort County Schools, a member of St. Clairs Church of Christ, a member of St. Clairs Seniors Sunday School Class, a member of St. Clairs Ladies Auxiliary and sang in the church choir. Mrs. Warren loved to write poetry and share it with family and friends.
Survivors include a son: Ray H. Warren, Jr. and his wife Joan of Washington; three sisters: Dot Harris of Emerald Isle, Lelia Eury of Vass, NC and Jean Eaton of Cary; a grandson: Chad Warren and his wife Sandra of Bath; two great grandchildren: Grayson Warren and Sam Warren and a dear friend: Rennie Johnson. Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by two sisters: Sarah Muir and Lucy Williams and a brother: Charles L. McHarney, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday March 24, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven.
