Mrs. Grace Moore Carawan, 91, of 4875 Loop Road, Scranton, died Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven.
Born in Beaufort County, April 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Theodore and Daisy Tate Moore. She was married to Archie Carawan who preceded her in death. She was a member of Eunice Chapel Church of Christ.
Mrs. Carawan was a homemaker, loved to crochet, read and attend the Mattamuskeet Senior Citizens Center, above all she loved the Lord, her family and her friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eunice Chapel Church of Christ. Thomas Biggs will officiate. Burial will follow in Beulah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Gracie Allyn O’Neal and husband William of Belhaven, Sharon Starr Cummins and husband John of New Market, TN., Christy Lane Fillyaw and husband James Larry of Elizabeth City; one sister, Vivian Cutler of Washington. Nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Carawan was also preceded in death by a son Elvis Sisk Carawan and a sister Katie Sawyer.
The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter on Tuesday evening between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and other times at the home.
