Sandra “Sandy” Bell O’Neal

Mrs. Sandra Bell O’Neal, age 53, a resident of 9106 NC HWY 45 N, Belhaven, NC, died at her home on Monday, June 14, 2010. A graveside funeral service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery, Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor H.P. Norman. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at Hillside Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Blake Daniels, Eric Daniels, Reid Courson, Jonathan Bell, Glenn Bell, and Rich Robinson.
Sandy was born in Halifax County on September 18, 1956, the daughter of the late Leroy Franklin Bell and Annie Latham Bell who survives. She was married on September 24, 1977 to Walter M. O’Neal III. Sandy was employed by Pungo District Hospital for almost 30 years, from 1979 to 2007. During that time, she studied diligently and received the following accomplishments: she attended Pitt County Community College in 1981; Registered Radiology Technologist 1981; Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer 1989; Registered Mammography Technologist 1992; Registered in Adult Echocardiology 2003; and Registered in Vascular Technology 2004. Sandy served Pungo District Hospital as their Radiology Department Manager from 1984 to 1998.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Walter M. O’Neal III and their beloved canine companion “Muffin”; brothers Glenn Bell and wife Susan of Washington, Jonathan Bell and wife Sharon of Ponzer; sister Sherry Bell Daniels of Winterville; three nephews Blake Daniels, Eric Daniels and Craig Robinson; three nieces Jamie Gautier, Jeri Bell, and Amie Elliott.
