Maggie Ross Cooke Morris, age 85, a resident of 4377 Kelly Road, Bath, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday June 23, 2010 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven and conducted by Craig Hagen, minister of St. Clairs Church of Christ. A private burial in the Cooke-Morris family cemetery will be at a later date. Mrs. Morriss grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Morris was born in Beaufort County on May 8, 1925, to the late Charlie Edward Ross and Narcissie Cutler Ross and was a member of St. Clairs Church of Christ. She attended Bath High School and on January 17, 1941 was married to Murl Webster Cooke, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1956. On December 5, 1963, she married Bernard Elliott Morris, who survives. Mrs. Morris was a lifetime homemaker and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to her endearing family.
Other survivors include her sons, Monte E. Morris of the home; Gerald L. Cooke and wife, Judy of Greenville; Larry W. Cooke and wife, Jennie of Swansboro; A.W. Cooke and wife, Rhonda of Washington; daughters, Carolyn C. Ricks and husband, Eddie of Pantego; Narcissie (Sissy) Spencer and husband, Tim of Belhaven; sister-in-law, Carol Ross and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Morris is also survived by twenty grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons, Murl E. Cooke and C. Arnold Cooke; sisters, Malvina McGowan, Myrtle Dotson, Alma Ross and Josephine Ross, and brothers, Charlie (Gus) Ross and William (Bill) Ross.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday June 22, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven, and at other times at the home. Flowers are welcome or the family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made to St. Clairs Church of Christ Building Fund, 9814 NC Hwy. 99 South, Bath, NC 27808 or the charity of ones choice.
