Stella Williams Hurst, age 87, a resident of 5820 HWY 17 S, Chocowinity, NC died Monday, June 21, 2010 at her home. A funeral service will be held at Hillside Funeral Service on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 2 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Lee Hendricks and Steve Bryan. The family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Service on Thursday, from 12 p.m. until service hour. Burial will follow at Soule Cemetery in Swan Quarter.
Mrs. Hurst was born on March 18, 1923 in Hyde County, the daughter of the late Whitfield and Ida Williams. She married Ken Hurst, her husband of 56 years, who preceded her in death on September 26, 1998.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon H. Buck of Chocowinity, NC, Diantha H. Coley and husband Ralph of Swan Quarter, NC and Deborah H. Llopiz and her husband Oscar of Palm City, FL; one foster daughter, Peggy Turnquist of MA; one sister, Odessa W. Jarvis and husband Glyn of Swan Quarter; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Hurst was preceded in death by three brothers, Odell, Herbert, and Ira Williams and a sister, Eva J. Gardner.
