Addie Grey Roberson Moore of Grifton, age 85, went to her heavenly home on July 7, 2010. She was born on September 22, 1924 to Sam and Mamie Roberson and grew up on a family owned farm on Ball Road near Washington, NC.
Addie is preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. Her siblings were Rosa Lee (Sissy), Henry Alton (Buddy), Mary Elizabeth, William Harold, Eli Albert, and Myrtle Esther. Her husband, Broadus J. Moore, also preceded her in death Nov. 13th, 2000. They were married for 53 years and are survived by three devoted children and their spouses, Samuel Franklin (Frankie) and Henrietta of Roxboro, NC, Elizabeth Ann and Leo Ricks of Grifton, and Broadus Jay and Monica of Jamestown, NC. Addie is also survived by six grandchildren, Chris Moore, Keely Weiss and husband Greg, Chuck Ricks and wife Kari, Jason Ricks and girlfriend Maryann Vinay, Benny Moore, and Amber Moore and boyfriend Robin Ward. Her great grandchildren, Rhyannon Joy Ricks, Leo Charles Ricks IV, and Lars Gregory Weiss loved their G.G. Addie is also survived by a beloved sister-in-law, Mildred Roberson of Greensboro and many nieces and nephews. Addies family was blessed in her final days by the loving care given to her by her niece, Carol Lykens Campfield, RN, Asera Care Hospice of Winterville, NC, with their wonderful staff, was responsible for her comfort care. Special thanks to Debbie, Ann, Cynthia, Lynn and Lee.
Addies greatest pleasure in life was making a wonderful home for her family. She was a 20 year volunteer as a Pink Lady at Lenoir Memorial Hospital and was once active in the Ladies Circle at the Grifton First Christian Church. She was at one time a very active member of The Eastern Star Chapter of Grifton. Her favorite hobby was yard work as was evidenced by her many flowers, bushes and trees.
The celebration of Addies life will be held on Saturday, July 10th, 2 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Grifton. The Rev. David Cox will officiate. The Rev. Lee Hendricks will sing a favorite hymn at the closing.
Arrangements are being made by Farmer Funeral Services, final respects can be offered during normal hours on Friday and then Saturday morning. Flowers may be sent to Farmer Funeral Services, 109 Second Street, in Ayden, NC 28513.
