PICKENS, SC — William Arthur “Bill” Rauschenbach, 77, passed away the night of July 5th, 2010 at his home in the company of his family. Bill and his loving wife, Joan Neary Rauschenbach, recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 18th.
Bill was born in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of the late Arthur and Mary Orsborn Rauschenbach. He graduated from LaPorte High School and Valparaiso Technical College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Bill went to work for Sangamo Electric and was transferred to the Pickens, South Carolina plant in 1965. He retired after 32 years and then worked at Kemet as an electronics engineer until his retirement. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.
Survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan, their nine children and (spouses): Mary Bell (Danny), Matt Rauschenbach (Alba), Sue Williams, John Rauschenbach (Kathy), Joe Rauschenbach, Nancy Bagwell (Avery), Amy Hood (Ralph), Carol Lawson (Rob), and Margaret Holder (David), their 14 grandchildren, and his sisters Betty Hundt and Zona Wisner.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister Arlene Hutcheson, and grandson Carlos Rauschenbach.
The family will receive friends, Friday, July 9th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Highway, Pickens, SC with a Rosary following visitation.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, July 10th at 12 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 558 Hampton Avenue in Pickens, SC with The Reverend Emmanuel Efiong officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum.
