Edgar D. Rowe, Jr. of Havelock died July 10, 2010 after a spirited battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lynda S. Rowe. He also is survived by his son, George Dail Rowe and his wife Kathy of Wakefield, Rhode Island and his daughter Leanne Rowe Radabaugh, her husband Todd Radabaugh and their two children Zach (21) and Kirk (18), all of Wilmington, NC.
Edgar or Dee (depending on when you knew him) was born on November 17, 1936 and grew up in Washington, North Carolina. He graduated from Washington High School in 1954 and joined the United States Air Force. After serving the Air Force, he worked for WITN Channel 7 in Washington. In 1961 he married the love of his life, Lynda Strickland, and in 1966 they settled in Havelock, NC, where he worked at Cherry Point M.C.A.S. He retired from NADEP in 1992.
He was a true Renaissance man. There was very little he could not design, build or fix. While we all will miss his presence for the rest of our lives, we know how blessed we are to have spent time on this earth with such a man. He taught us to be generous, to be loyal, to love dogs, and to have lives full of laughter.
The family will accept visitors at Munden’s Funeral Home in Morehead City on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. A memorial service will take place at the funeral home directly after the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society.
