Mr. Olian Riggs Williams, Sr., age 89, a resident of 94 Hodges Road, Scranton, NC died Monday July 19, 2010 at Pungo District Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday July 22, 2010 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven officiated by Linwood Adams. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery. Micole W. Izaguirre, Rey Izaguirre, Mikey Williams, Tré Williams, Brianna Williams, John Hagen, River Spencer and Ronnie Swindell will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Williams was born in Hyde County on June 20, 1921, son of the late Jodie Columbus Williams and Julia Radcliff Williams. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On September 25, 1943, he married the former Christine Hodges who survives. Mr. Williams was a farmer his entire life and was a member of Scranton Christian Church.
In addition to his wife, Christine Williams, of the home, he is survived by his son: Olian R. Williams, Jr. and his wife, Eunice of Scranton; his daughter-in-law: Annette Williams; his grandchildren: Micole Williams Izaguirre and her husband, Rey; Michael (Mikey) Williams, Jr. and his wife, Melody Joe; Brianna Shea Williams and her husband, John Hagen, and Olian R. Williams, III (Tré); his great grandchildren: Jonathon River Spencer, AnnaLee Rae Izaguirre, Alex Michael Izaguirre, and Edward Brandt Williams; his two nephews: Ray Mitchell Spencer and Franklin Williams and a special friend of the family and loving caregiver: Joyce Russell.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son: Michael R. Williams, Jr. and a granddaughter: Christine Leann Williams.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven and other times at the home located at 94 Hodges Road, Scranton.
