Murphy Alligood, 58, of Smyrna, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at his residence.
Services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Otway Christian Church with Rev. Jack Mumford officiating. 
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Alligood of the home; Aunt Alice Sheppard of Washington, NC; son Michael Alligood; step-son Glenn Tripp; step-daughter Glenda Carr and husband Chris, all of New Bern; grandchildren Connor Carr, Emily Carr, Nathan Carr; sister Judy Everrette of Washington; brothers Ronald Alligood, Ray Alligood, Scott Alligood, and William Alligood, all of Washington, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Alligood and Sally Sheppard Alligood, and brothers James Alligood and Herbert Alligood.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
