Andrew Jackson Cartwright, a resident of 2017 John Small Ave., Washington, his life ended at his home on Sunday, August 22, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Hillside Funeral Service of Washington, officiated by Tony Krantz, Norman Miller and Louis Styons. The family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Service from 12 p.m.-until the service hour on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 and other times at the home.
Mr. Cartwright was born on December 13, 1930 in Beaufort County, son of the late Leon Thomas Cartwright and Laura Ross Cartwright. He served his country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne, where was stationed in Korea and Panama. AJ worked with Thomas &Howard Company, Electrolux, and for the last 30 years he was the owner and operator of Cartwright Famer’s Market in Washington, NC. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Church of Christ and the National Republican Committee. Mr. Cartwright loved gardening and his flowers. He also loved animals, especially his dog, Andy Boy. He adored people and he never met a stranger. Mr. AJ spoke his mind and was a man of very strong will.
Mr. Cartwright is survived by wife of 30 years, Tina; two daughters, Camelia Cartwright and Sharon Clark of Washington, NC; one son, Bobby Cartwright of Winterville, NC; eight grandchildren, Cliff Pyle, Sabrina Pyle, Patricia Sparrow, Mona Ross, Mandy Cartwright, Christy Esobar, Phillip Cartwright and Lynn Cartwright; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Conwell and Maurice Cartwright.
