Mr. Jeremiah Stearns “Jerry” Moore, age 59, a resident of 619 Ball Road, Washington died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Mark Lilley. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
The following will serve as pallbearers: L.B. Crisp, Bobby Lee Crisp, Robbie Cox, Lindsay Cox, Gary “Buddy” Woolard, Joseph Kirkley, David Moore and “Bumper” Daniels.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Ward, Michael West, Carlie Ambrose, Bill Haddock, Redden Woolard, Herman Grissom, Steven “Pudgie” Whitley, Chris Phillips, Harvey Williamson, Bobby Silverthorne, and Thurman Hyatt.
Mr. Moore was born in Beaufort County on November 17, 1950. He was the son of the late Ray Stearns Moore and Vivian Norman Moore. Mr. Moore was a farmer. He enjoyed his family and loved throwing ball in the back yard with his son, Jeremiah, as well as watching Jeremiah play baseball. His nieces and nephews thought of him as another “Daddy”.
Mr. Moore is survived by a daughter, Victoria “Beth” Moore of the home and her mother, Deborah Moore of Washington; a son and daughter, Jeremiah Stearns Moore II of the home, Courtney Lynn Stockman of Pearl River, LA and their mother, Gay Stockman of the home; three sisters, Marie M. Cox, Christine Woolard, Ruby Mae Crisp all of Washington; two brothers, Ray David Moore and Lee Moore both of Washington and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home, 619 Ball Road, Washington.
