ROBERSONVILLE, NC Reverend Allen B. Bryan, retired Free Will Baptist minister, passed from this earthly life on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Martin General Hospital.
A memorial service will be conducted at First Baptist Church, Robersonville, NC at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, with visitation after the service. A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Bladenboro, NC, on Wednesday, September 1, at 1 p.m. with visitation after the service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jonathan Bryan, Andy Bryan, Bryan Cochran, and nephews G. C. Bryan, Grady Dowless, and Freddie Edwards.
Rev. Bryan, born in 1920 in Bladenboro, NC was the son of the late Henry and Georgia Bryan. He attended the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN, and was ordained to preach the Gospel in 1945. He gave all of his adult life to the Free Will Baptist denomination, serving as pastor at more than 15 churches in eastern NC during his 65 years of active ministry. Rev. Bryan was active in numerous denominational organizations, helping to establish Free Will Baptist mission churches in Arizona while he was Director of the Free Will Baptist Foreign Mission Board. He had made his home in Robersonville for the past 4 years.
Rev. Bryan is survived by Edgar &Carolyn Bryan of Washington, NC; Howard Bryan &Mary Bryan of Statesville, NC; Jo Ann &Randy Banks of Annapolis, MD; Peggy &Al Cochran of Robersonville, NC; Ben &Wanda Bryan of Statesville, N.C.; and stepson Gene Reich, of Goldsboro, NC. Grandchildren and their spouses are Jonathan Bryan, Cindy &Tony Huffman, Kathy Stephenson, Andy Bryan &fianceé Amber Johnson, Anna &Griffin North, Sarah &Brandon Johnson, Bryan &Sandy Cochran, Emily Bryan, Lindsey Bryan &Rachel Bryan. Rev. Bryan is also survived by 3 great grandchildren and a sister, Ethel Lee Dowless Guyton of Bladenboro, NC. Preceding him in death were wives Ann Hester Bryan &Louise Reich Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mount Olive College Bryan-Hester Memorial Endowed Fund, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, NC 28365.
