Mrs. Margaret Underwood Griffin, age 90, a former resident of Belhaven, died peacefully Sunday, September 5, 2010 after a full and happy life.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Belhaven Community Cemetery in Belhaven conducted by Michael Isbell.
Mrs. Griffin was born in Newton Grove on July 7, 1919. She was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Underwood and the eighth of nine children. Mrs. Griffin graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, N.C. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Belhaven.
Margaret was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She spent most of her life working at J.D. Dawson Co. in Belhaven, N.C. and the rest of her life was dedicated to her children. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, James H. Griffin and loving daughter, Tennie Griffin.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Foster of Deerfield Beach, FL, Betty Cook of Wilmington, N.C., Jim Griffin of Chesapeake, Va., Dianne Brooks of Louisburg, N.C.; five grandchildren, Tommy Taylor, Todd Taylor, Kathy Stefanick, Harry Cook, Heather Ott and numerous great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven.
