As of noon yesterday, Beaufort County had relocated its Red Cross Shelter from PS Jones Middle School to 315 North Bonner Street (The Orr Lodge” near the intersection of Third and Bonner streets in Washington.
According to County Manger Paul Spruill, the shelter had seven residents as of noon yesterday and will not be open and available, until further notice.
The Red Cross and Spruill will evaluate the need for continued shelter operations tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
An estimated 30 to 50 Beaufort County families were displaced from their homes Thursday night and Friday morning due to rainfall and storm water runoff.
