Mrs. Annie Weston Jones, age 93, a resident of Blounts Creek died on October 4, 2010.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Elizabeth Chapel and will be conducted by Marty Alligood. Interment will follow at the Jones Family Cemetery on Jones Avenue. Phil, Rod and Michael Weston, W.B. Beddard, Larry Rowe and David Bennett will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Annie was born in Beaufort County on May 9, 1917 to the late Jesse Bryan Weston and the late Willie Jane Lamm Weston. She was the seventh of their nine children, all of whom are deceased. Miss Annie was a homemaker and an active member of Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ. She was a member of the Church Ladies Aid, the Blounts Creek Voluntary Fire Department Ladies Aid, and a voluntary worker at the Beaufort County Developmental Center as long as her health permitted. She was known for her fine craft skills and her sewing ability.
She was married to Ralph Orville Jones, who preceded her in death in 1987. In addition to her parents, siblings and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Grey who died as an infant and Terry “Bud” Jones who died in February of this year.
Survivors include one son, Larry Langley Jones, Sr. and wife Gloria of Blounts Creek; one daughter, Linda JoAnn Smith and husband Charles of Blounts Creek ; five grandchildren: Cassandra Jean Jones, Larry Langley Jones, Jr., Terrie Lynn Jones Johnson, Charles Allan Smith, Charles Kelly Smith; and five great grandchildren: Emma Smith, Stephen Jones, Timothy Johnson, Hollie Johnson and McLean Smith.
The family wishes to thank the many caregivers that helped to care for their mother. They would especially like to express their appreciation to the staff of the third hall at Britthaven Nursing Home in Washington and also to Dr. Jose Gonzalez who tenderly cared for their mother.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 7, 2010 one hour prior to the service at Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ and other times at the home of Charles and JoAnn Smith, 13302 NC Hwy. 33 E. Blounts Creek.
