Mr. Benjamin Wayne Sadler, age 71, a resident of 267 East Water Street, Belhaven, died Tuesday Nov. 23, 2010, at the University Health Systems Inpatient Hospice in Greenville. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at the Belhaven Community Cemetery officiated by Kent Gurganus. Pallbearers will be Ted Brinn, Stevie Brinn, Ron Toppin, Jr., Jerry Davenport, Jimmy Sadler and Barry Sadler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Sparrow, Dexter Moore and Carlton Smith.
Mr. Sadler was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 4, 1939, son of the late William Harry Sadler and the late Nellie Elizabeth Woolard Sadler. He was a 1958 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from General Electric in Erie, Pa. in 1995 and moved back to his native Beaufort County. Mr. Sadler was a member of the Pinetown Pentecostal Holiness Church, the Washington Moose Lodge #1800 and the American Legion Post 15.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne S. Klekar and her husband Bill of York Town, Va.; a son, Timothy J. Sadler and his wife Rachel of Thomasville; three sisters, Jean Brinn of Salisbury, Janice Davenport of Belhaven and Patricia Sadler of Washington and four grandchildren. Mr. Sadler was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Sadler and J.T. Sadler.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and at other times at the home of Mr. Wayne’s sister, Janice Davenport, located on Old County Road in Belhaven.
