Mrs. Alma Woolard Edwards

Mrs. Alma Clark Woolard Edwards, age 93, a resident of 185 Archibald Road, Washington, and formerly of 5834 U.S. Highway 264 East, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 at her home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Rev. Sam Grist. William Ack Woolard, Jr., Lloyd Woolard, Jr., Jerry Woolard, Clifton Fulford, Sr., Stuart Ricks and Hunter Sutton will serve as pallbearers. Clifton Fulford, Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 18, 1917, daughter of the late Wilson Clark and Nancy Alligood Clark Hollis. On Dec. 6, 1933, she married Lloyd Buddy F. Woolard who preceded her in death in 1952. Later, she married Jake Edwards who preceded her in death in 1975. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Alligood Church of God where she was a former member of the choir and a Sunday School teacher. She was an avid gardener, loved yard work, enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her son: William Ack Woolard, Sr. of the home and his wife, Ann; her stepdaughter: Evelyn E. Edwards formerly of Blounts Creek; her brothers: Fred Hollis of Blounts Creek and Tucker Hollis of Washington; her sisters: Nancy Hollis and Peggy H. Woolard, both of Washington; seven grandchildren including three special granddaughters: Alma Kay W. Mizell, Monica Fulford and Bobbie Jo Ricks; 15 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her spouses and parents, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter; son, Lloyd Wobble Woolard, Sr. and his wife, Mildred; her stepfather, Harmon J. Hollis, four brothers, four sisters, a grandson, John C. Woolard and a great granddaughter, Tiffany Rubado.
Mrs. Edwards was a caregiver to her loved ones that have since passed on. She lovingly gave of herself to those less fortunate and instilled her Christian values in her children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home located at 185 Archibald Road, Washington.
