Mrs. Doris Gray Waters Woolard, age 84, a resident of 1226 Boyd Galloway Road, Grimesland and a former resident of Washington died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Marty Alligood. A private burial will be held at the Woolard Family Cemetery. Heath Canada, Christopher Edwards, Robert Ingalls, Daniel Ipock, Bernie Jones, Jr. and Proctor Kidwell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Bowen and Lindsay Sikes.
Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 19, 1926 daughter of the late James Edwin Waters and the late Nancy Lester Waters Boyd. She attended Bath High School and married William Chester Woolard on Nov. 15, 1947 who preceded her in death on July 1, 1983. Mrs. Woolard was a homemaker, a seamstress at Belk’s of Washington and a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons: William Earl Woolard and his wife Clara of Washington and Talmadge Gene Woolard and his wife Mary Lou of Grimesland; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by five brothers: Joshua Reed Waters, Bonnie Waters, Marvin Waters, James Waters and John Waters and three sisters: Irene Waters, Mable Williamson and Mrs. Woolard’s identical twin Dorothy Walker.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of Mrs. Woolard’s son Talmadge located at 1226 Boyd Galloway Road, Grimesland, N.C.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 3740 South Evans St., Greenville, N.C. 27834
