Mrs. Jessie Eason Worrell, age 90, a resident of Forest Hills, Washington and a most recent resident of The Williamston House, Williamston, N.C., died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Martin County General Hospital. A visitation will be held today at First Baptist Church, Washington, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the church Sanctuary and other times at the home of her daughter, Amelia W. Riffle, 301 Cowan St., Rosedale. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens with the following serving as pallbearers: Steve Bonner, Stanley Edwards, Benji Forrest, Nicki McKinley, Clarence Riddick and Lawrence Riddick.
Mrs. Worrell was born on June 3, 1920, in Perquimans County, daughter of the late William M. Eason and Della Newland Blanchard. She married J.M. Worrell on June 2, 1939, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2009. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Grace Sunday School Class, Beaufort County Grange #1233, WMU of First Baptist Church, and a former member of the Washington Ruritan Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Amelia Riffle and husband, Joe of Washington and Betsy Lee Clark and husband, Hugh of Goldsboro; one son, Marvin Ray Worrell and wife, Martha of Manteo; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine E. Riddick, Marie E. Davis, and Elton Hunter.
