Mr. Richard “Rick” Mack Jobe, born August 24, 1954, left this world to continue his journey on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, with his family by his side. Rick left his love and memories behind with his dedicated wife, Cindy Jobe of Washington; parents James and Norma Jobe of Grant, Ala.; brother James A. Jobe of Huntsville, Ala.; sisters Sandra Allen of South Korea and Cynthia Aiken of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also were his children for whom he loved dearly; son, Joshua, daughter, Nikki; two stepchildren, Denise and William, and grandchildren, Mia, Cameron, Clay, Savannah, and Haleigh.
Rick’s life was a journey of resolute independence. His earlier travels took him from the far northeast, to the deep south, to the southwest and to foreign soil. He hitchhiked across the Mississippi Delta and the Southwest desert, voyaged to the Greek Islands to look out across the Agean Sea, and finally settled down near the inland water ways of eastern North Carolina. Rick always enjoyed sharing a great story, a laugh, or a lesson learned from his adventures.
Rick’s wanderlust led him to find true love and happiness with his wife, Cindy, and their family and friends who surrounded him in Washington, NC.
Rick’s last wishes were that his worldly body be donated for Parkinson’s and Cancer research at the ECU School of Medicine. Rick wanted to celebrate his transition from this world to Heaven with a gathering of family and friends.
In honor of Rick a “Celebration of Life” memorial service will be held the evening of Thursday, Feb. 17th, 2011 at First Church Of Christ, 520 E. 10th St., Washington, at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please support your local Parkinson’s or cancer society.
